The cable shortening kit shown above includes an adjustable fitting end for the throttle cable as well as the cables for the emergency brake & clutch.

Bugpack T-Handle Shifters

The Bugpack T-Handle shifter is a strong short throw, smaller gate unit that features an aluminum handle, polished shaft and unique thumb buttom reverse engagement. Available in two heights, standard for stock Beetle applications & short for sand rails. Both shifters are supplied with the proper reverse lock plate & the handles can be easily rotated to facilitate right hand drive.

Stock VW Shift Rod, late style
Late style shift rods were used from 1965-on. #102.711.155
Early style shift rods were used through 1964. #113.711.155

Stock VW shift rods come in two styles. Pictured above is a close up of both ends of a late style rod which uses a square shift coupler. On the left is the end where the coupler joins it to the nosecone of the transmission. On the right is the cup that the shift ball sits in. In stock VW applications, there is also a difference in overall length, due to a change in the shifter location & the rod is bent to clear the Emergency Brake. Either style can be shortened for use in a short wheelbase fiberglass buggy like our Nostalgia, Lancer or Roadster-T as long as the corresponding shift coupler is used.
Universal Shift Rod Kit with Adjuster

Finally an easy way to make that connection from the shifter to the transmission in a sandrail. Complete kit supplied with "cut to length" shift rod tube and coupler adapter. A "must" for all rear engine applications! The adjuster eliminates adjustment problems on stock shift rods dur to exessive wear, bending, etc. Simply cut off end of the shift rod & weld in the adjusting nut insert.
Shift rod adjuster is also available seperately.
